How does it feel to the child to call an adult by his or her first name?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2698519433629464876.post-9854319527504625252012-05-11T11:04:05.241-04:002012-05-11T11:04:05.241-04:00I'm just going to add on a more serious note: ...I'm just going to add on a more serious note: Calling adults by "mr." or "mrs" is another example of setting some boundaires for children. It communicates to a child that adults are different and should be treated with respect. These kinds of boundaries help children feel more secure; they are allowed to be children and there are more experienced people (adults) out there who can help teach them to navigate the world. Just my Tow cents.EHPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08795389357517479909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2698519433629464876.post-88415922291525825392012-05-10T14:49:37.570-04:002012-05-10T14:49:37.570-04:00Great post! I don't know her that well, and never said, "Oh, please, call me Kate." It just took me by surprise and I made a weird face. Here in the South, we have this sweet tradition of allowing our children to address adults with prefixes of Miss "fill in first name" or Mister "fill in first name" when addressing familiar adults (or preschool teachers). However, I grew up in the North and I tell my kids to use Mrs. and Mr. at all times.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2698519433629464876.post-23285893623547124962012-05-10T14:07:10.319-04:002012-05-10T14:07:10.319-04:00Thank you Mrs. K!
